It is that time again! The Rust College Social Work Department and Families First Resource Center would like to extend to you an invitation to attend our upcoming Annual Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Seminar.  It will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Registration for those attending the seminar only, will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. in the McCarty-Varnell BCS Building in the Heard Auditorium located on Rust College Campus.

We are so excited about this year’s conference as this is our 20th year. We look forward to hosting an informative seminar that will continue to highlight our collective efforts to educate ourselves and keep our community abreast and involved in the dire concerns and needs of children. The theme for this year’s conference is “Children and Gun Violence.”We have invited experienced keynote speakers from around the world, as well as a panel of professionals with various areas of expertise to address the current challenges of children today related to this most important topic.

The cost of the Seminar is $35.00 per person and is available to anyone who works in providing services to children and adolescents.  A total of 6 CE’s (1 hr. of Ethics) will be offered to those seeking continuing education contact hours.  Lunch will also be provided therefore, we ask that you RSVP on or before Thursday, April 4, 2013 so that we may properly plan for your attendance. (Note:  A RSVP Sheet is attached.)

*Also, this year the Field Instructor Training and Advisory Board Meeting will be held on this same day. The Field Instructor Training will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and the Advisory Board Meeting will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. All Field Instructors and Advisory Board Members are invited to attend the training and/or advisory board meeting in addition to the seminar.
