The Department of Religious Education ministers to the spiritual needs of Rust students, faculty, staff, and alumni. It plays a crucial role in nurturing and communicating the Methodist identity of the College. As a United Methodist College, Rust strives to make conscious connections between faith and reason, between the quest for knowledge and the thirst for God. We promote programs that enhance spiritual quality of life for the college community.

VISION:
A historically Black senior liberal arts college, founded in 1866, related to the United Methodist Church, serving students, faculty, staff, and administration regardless of race, religion, gender, socio-economic status, national origin or ethnic background.

MISSION:
The Office of Religious Education is  a dynamic diverse community of faith,  supporting the entire Rust College family with a well-rounded program dedicated to cultural, moral, and spiritual values in both theory and practice.

GOAL:
Rust College Office of Religious Education is  a diverse community where the administration, faculty, staff, and students find sacred space to be fellow travelers on a journey of faith that leads to transformation of the individual and the world.

OBJECTIVES:
Make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Maintain ecumenical fellowship around common service learning projects.

Build an interfaith social ethic that reaches beyond race, religion, gender, socio-economic status, national origin, or ethnic background.
