Rust College begins the year with strong enrollment numbers

Lauren McLin is excited about her senior year in college. The Jackson, Miss. native joins more than 900 other students who are attending Rust College this fall. So far, enrollment numbers are expected to surpass last year’s.

“I’m ready,” said the business major, who began classes on Wednesday, Aug. 20. Enrollment numbers this year are impressive, says Braque Talley, director of enrollment services. “We have more first-time students since the implementation of the Quality Enhancement Program in 2010,” said Talley.

“We brought in more students, but we also brought in more quality students. The minimum GPA in 2010 was 2.1. This year it is 2.3. “At this point last year, we had 833 students,” Talley continued. “That number increased to 946 this year. I’m confident that we’ll have more students than we did last year.”

Talley said he and his staff have been working really hard to make sure students and their parents know what a quality education Rust College offers. “Our graduates grow to be very successful in a variety of fields,” he said.
