New faces around campus

Rust welcomed a number of new faculty and staff this year. Each of them bring a wealth of experiences and talent to share.


Jerry Watson, Associate Professor of Social Work

Watson holds a bachelors of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University, masters in social work from the University Of Illinois Jane Addams School Of Social Work, masters in Business Administration from Dominican University and a PH.D from Jackson State University in Urban Higher Education. Prior to Rust, Watson worked at Jackson State University in their graduate social work program.

Michael Vickerstaff, Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Freshmen Activity Instructor

Vickerstaff is a former Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Wiley College, Texas College, Clark Atlanta University, and Richard Career Academy. He holds a bachelors of Science from Stillman College.



Aurby Burdine, Student Activities Assistant/ Head Baseball and Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach

Burdine holds a bachelor degree in childcare management from Rust College. Prior to being a head Coach at Rust, Burdine served as the Baseball student coach.



Dionyal B. Spencer, Director of Public Relations
Spencer holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Rust College and master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from the University of Mississippi. Before arriving at Rust, Spencer worked as an Intervention tutor in Conyers Ga.



Dolphes McGee, Chief of Security
McGee holds a bachelor degree from Delta State in Criminal Justice and masters in Psychology from the University of Phoenix. Prior to Rust College he served as Police officer with Memphis Police Department, supervisor with Arkansas Dept. of Corrections, and a Shelby County Schools Resource Officer.



Aja Loveless, Assistant Director of Student Activities/ Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach
Loveless holds a bachelors degree and masters degree from the Jackson State University. Before arriving at Rust College she coached at high schools and assisted with strength and conditioning of student athletes. 



Sharon White, Assistant Director of Student Activities/ Advisor/ Counselor, First Yr. Experience
White holds a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Rust College and a master’s in Broadcasting at the University of Mississippi. White is an On-Air personality for radio and television as well as a production Assistant.
