About The Department:
The Department of Religious Education ministers to the spiritual needs of Rust’s students, faculty, staff, and alumni. It plays a crucial role in nurturing and communicating the Methodist identity of the College. As a United Methodist College, Rust strives to make conscious connections between faith and reason, between the quest for knowledge and the thirst for God. We promote programs that enhance spiritual quality of life for the college community.

          About the Organizations:

  • Methodist Student Movement: 
    The Methodist Student Movement is a student led religious organization that reaches out to United Methodist, African Methodist, Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion, and Christian Methodist Episcopal students. It offers God’s presence, praise and worship, good music, community service, lifetime friendship, great trips, and  personal religious enhancement.
  • Catholic Student Association:
    The Catholic Student Association serves as an outlet for students of the Catholic denomination to grow in their faith. The group sponsors and participates in various activities on and off campus. 
  • Baptist Student Union (BSU:  The Baptist Student Union offers fellowship among those students of the Baptist faith. The BSU provides a great opportunity to praise and worship God through songs. It is open to all  students of all denominations.
  • Sunday School: A modern approach for Bible lessons is the focus of the campus Sunday School. Students of all denominations are welcome:  Sunday School meets on Sundays from 9:00 am—10:00 am in the James A. Elam Chapel. Students receive 1 AEP point  for  attendance.
  • Student Ministers: Persons aspiring to be ministers find Rust College to be a special place.
